Pula
Pula is a charming seaside village about 30 kms from Cagliari. It is located in the south west of Cagliari, in southern Sardinia. It has strong agricultural and fishing roots, and a proud community that looks after the upkeep of the village. During the long summer months the village buzzes with tourists and the square is the centre of music and entertainment, with shows every night performed on the open air stage. A few km away, perched on the tip of the peninsula, lie the ruins of the ancient town of Nora. This renowned archeological site was discovered in the late 19th century after a sea storm washed away the sand under which the city had been hidden for centuries. Recitals, poetry readings and small concerts are sometimes held in the amphitheatre at the centre of the ruins in July and August. Let us not forget to mention what a beautiful backdrop the Nora ruins make for romantic wedding photos. For those who prefer a round of golf to sunbathing, Pula is home to one of Europe’s best Golf courses and hospitality centres. Horse riding too is popular, alternatively excursions out to the marine wildlife lagoon can make for a great day out.
This stretch of coastline is blessed with some of the most astonishing beaches, which are wonderful for a peaceful walk in Autumn and Spring or fantastic in Summer for a great safe day out at the beach. The most noted beaches are Nora (location of St. Efisio Church), Santa Margherita, Chia sand dunes and Tueredda, which are all within 5 to 15 minutes drive from Pula.
